Is a twenty-year-old washer worth repairing?
Frequently yes. Older machines are mechanically simple, and pumps, belts, lid switches and shock absorbers are still made. What ends them is a failed transmission or a rusted-through tub. We will tell you plainly which one you are facing before you spend anything past the diagnostic.
Does living near the water really affect appliances?
It does, mostly through corrosion on condenser coils and exterior vent hoods. It rarely kills an appliance outright, but it shortens the life of the parts that sit in moving air.
